Step into Spring with the STEM Night Series. Middleborough Elementary School teachers, Hot Spots Extended Care Programs Inc., and Lakeshore Learning partnered together through a 21st Century Enrichment Grant made available by The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools to offer a STEM Night series taking place in March, April, and May.
The series will include a Grades 3-5 STEM Night entitled Force and Motion, a Pre-K-Grade 2 STEM Night focused on the engineering and design process, and a family STEM challenges night. Students, families, and teachers will document the completion of additional Community STEM Challenges in Lakeshore STEM Journals. These efforts are to promote parent and student understanding, knowledge, and engagement of STEM.
The series was launched Feb. 12 with professional development hosted at Middleborough Elementary. Lakeshore facilitated a dialogue between Hot Spots and MES Teachers about teaching and applying STEM outside of the traditional classroom. Teachers worked together to complete the interactive activities of the upcoming STEM Nights. Another collaborative professional development will occur in April to enhance involvement in May’s culminating Family STEM Night.
