More than 900 new teachers and professionals to the Team BCPS community participated in New Teacher Orientation August 22-23 at Perry Hall High.
The halls were filled with excitement as educators were ushered in to meet their new colleagues, exchange salutations, and move on to a rigorous schedule of workshops and programs.
Their learning and breakout sessions included topics like Equity in Action: Having Courageous Conversations, Classroom Management and Professional Conduct, as well as resources and programs to help sustain professional growth. The Office of Organizational Development ensured every individual received support in areas needed for a successful launch of the school year and beyond.
Another one of the many highlights that filled the New Teacher Orientation schedule was lunch. They grabbed a bite, mixed and mingled, rekindled relationships and caught their breath before moving onto the next series of activities. During that time, all present were treated with a fun-filled raffle of prizes, provided by The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools through the generous giving of community partners and TABCO. Foundation Ambassadors provided more than 120 gift bags filled with classroom resources ranging from pens, clips, coupons, and mugs.
As the last day came to a close, Education Foundation Executive Director Deborah Phelps reflected, “It is quite clear that our community appreciates public education in Baltimore County and wants our teachers to be successful as they approach their new career. Through their tokens of generosity, be it large or small, it is evident that they care about our teachers who impact the lives of children daily!”
